Paul Dashiell Cofer, or 1248 Westover Ave., Apartment 2, died Wednesday in his home.
He was a native of Smithfield, Va., and had retired as a certified public accountant. Before he started his own firm, he was associated with A. Lee Rawlings & Co., a certified public accounting firm.
Cofer was a member of Ghent United Methodist Church and was a former member of the official board. He was a past president of the Tidewater chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Cofer was a member of the American Institute of Accountants, the National Association of Cost Accountants and the Norfolk-Virginia Beach Executives Club.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Hudgins Cofer; a son, William R. Cofer of Newport News; two sisters, Lina Batten of Nashville, Tenn., and Lillian Hearn of Auburn, Calif.; and two grandsons.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today in Cox Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Bob Watts. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Ghent United Methodist Church.
