Peleg Fiske, whose home was at 1717 Spring street, died Wednesday at Kosmosdale, about fifteen miles below Louisville. He was engineer on the Clermond, Captain Steve Green's coast packet. He was taken ill Thursday evening and died in his state room. About two weeks ago he suffered from a severe cold but recovered sufficiently to resume his duties on the boat. Mr. Fiske was sixty-two years old and had been a river engineer for the past forty years running on the Lee Line and other Pittsburg and New Orleans boats and he was well known along the Ohio and Mississippi rivers. His wife died about fourteen months ago and he is survived by two daughters and two sons. They are Louis Fiske, Miss Linne Fiske, and Mrs. Hargrave, of this city, and Wm. Fiske, of Nashville, Tenn. He was a member of the Third Presbyterian church and of the Knights and Ladies of Honor and New Albany Lodge No. 10, of Odd Fellows. The body was brought to this city on the Clermond. - Public Press 22 Nov 1910 [hemorrhage of brain]
