Barbara loved music and spent many years serving as an organist in church and at a local mortuary. Perhaps her most remarkable and enduring trait was the capacity to serve others. She was devoted to her husband, children and extended family, tirelessly serving them while setting an example to follow. When John became ill with congestive heart disease, she nursed him at home for several years until he passed away on August 3, 2005. Even though they were people of modest means, she and John opened their home many times to persons in difficult circumstances. Barbara was always willing to share her humble resources with others. She was a faithful and devoted member of the LDS Church and served in many callings throughout the years, including as a worker in the Provo temple.
Barbara is survived by sons Neil (Denise), Carl (Chris) and Paul (Erline), a daughter, Anita (Jan), 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Another son, Craig, preceded her in death.
Her funeral will be conducted on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah. A viewing will be held during the hour preceding the service.
