Amos is the son of Andrew Jackson Stephens and Ruth Ann Bishop. There were 9 children of the family. Amos was the second oldest. Four boys and five girls.
(Amos was my Great Uncle on the Stephens side and he married Mary Craig. Mary Craig was also related to me, by great grandmother Jane Head Craig. )
Amos died in his home in Otter Trail. He was a man whom it was a pleasure to meet and held the respect and esteem of all who knew him.
He married Mary S Craig, of Boscobel, Wis. on December 20, 1861, in Brownville, NE.
He moved to Fillmore County, Minn, in 1868. He enlisted in Co. A., 2nd Minnesota in 1864 and served until the close of the war. He moved to Otter Tail, Minnesota, in the spring of 1880.

Amos wife, Mary, was the Sheridan County citizen, she lived up to 105 years old. She was very active until she reached the century mark. She was born at Oakland, ILL., at the age of 12 she took the responsibility of housekeeping and raising her siblings, when her mother, Jane Head pass away at an early age. She married to a civil War Veteran (Amos) . She also viewed the President Lincoln's body as it lay in state after his assassination. A pioneer through the days of prairie fires and Indian scares. She has a wealth of stories about early day conditions of the West. (Several of her children, kept journals of the early days.

Amos and Mary Stevens had 12 children, 4 boys, 8 girls and 2 sets of twin.
1. Andrew Jackson Stevens 1862-1911, age of 48 years. He married Sarah Frances Watters on July 3,1886. They had 12 children.
2. Phoebe Ellen Stephens 1864-1930 There is very little records of her life.
3. Sarah Jane Stephens 1866-1935 She married Albert Richard Martin Dec 31, 1936, in Fillmore, Minnesota. They had 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls.
4. Minnie Viola Stephens 1868-1868 She died at birth. At Pilot Mound, Minnesota
5. Margaret Emma Stephens-1870-1945 She married William Hunter on Dec 26, 1890, in Pickeral Lake, MN They had 3 children 2 girls and 1 boy.
6. Marlon Stephens (Twin) 1873-1961 Never married. He was a farmer.
7. Murlen Stephens 1873-1925 He married Mary Effie Mc Guire on May 3, 1910, in Montana. They had 2 children.
8. Cordelia Stephens 1876-1883 She pass away at the age of 7.
9. Stella Mae Stevens 1878-1960 She married to George Hunter in 1896 They had four children.
10. Myrtle Bell Stephens1880-1959 She married John Erwin Cary on March 26, 1903, in MN. They had 3 children.
11. Amos Lloyd Stephens 1890-1891 Died at the age of 9 months.
12. Nellie Blanch Stephens 1886-1978 She married Willard Isaac Saxton on June 4, 1912, in ND. They had 2 boys.
