CLIFTON - Yvette H. Hamel, 82, a former Clyde resident, died Sunday, April 23, 1995, at Estelle's Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 6, 1912, in Lawrence, Mass., to Joseph H. and Mary L. (Gosselin) Favreau.
She married Francis Eugene Hamel on Feb. 8, 1932, in Damar. He died June 24, 1957.
She lived in Clyde from 1943 to 1989, when she entered the nursing home in Clifton. She had worked in the St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia, and the Clyde High School as a cook. She was employed by the Concordia Medical Group as a nurse's aide when she retired in October 1981. She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph, Russell, and Johnny P., Clyde; five daughters, Theresa Schwab, Clifton, Pauline Ouellette, San Jose, Calif., Mary Ann Morris, Woodbridge, Va., Rita Mae Salmon, Anadarko, and Kathleen J. Ouellette, Clay Center; a brother, George Favreau, Wichita; two sisters, Lillian Matheson, Clifton, and Joan Adams, Emporia; 38 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 54 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, four brothers, and a step-granddaughter.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde, with Father Frank Coady officiating; burial in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Clyde.
A vigil service begins at 7 p.m. today at the church. Visitation is until 5 p.m. today at the Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, and from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Estelle's Nursing Home.
