Mr. Landis was born in Codorus Township on July 12, 1936, son of the late Vernon B. and Hilda C. (Bankert) Landis.
He retired from P.H. Glatfelter with 45 years of service, and was a member of the Glatfelter Quarter Century Club as well as the Spring Grove Community Center.
Mr. Landis loved and was proud of his family, and especially enjoyed all of the family get togethers. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, was an avid gardener, and liked playing cards with the Golden Gatherings group at his church.
In addition to his loving wife, Sterling leaves five children, Karen Laughman and husband, Gene of Abbottstown, Kevin Landis and wife, Kelly of Thomasville, Kenneth Landis and wife, Missy of York, Kathryn Forry and husband, Tim of Dallastown, and Kristina Martin and husband, Dan of West York; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; four sisters, Hattie Miller, Ruthella Delozier, Catherine Myers, and Pauline Cramer; and two brothers, Earl and Harold Landis.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Trinity (Roth's) United Church of Christ, Spring Grove. His pastor, The Rev. Gene Edwards, will be officiating at the service. Interment will follow in St. Jacob's Union Cemetery, York New Salem.
