JONESPORT – Colin L. Chandler, 69, a lifetime resident of Jonesport, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2011, in Jonesport, after a brief illness. Colin was born June 7, 1942, in Jonesport, to William and Phyllis (Huntley) Chandler.

He grew up in Jonesport and studied many different careers in his lifetime. Most recently Colin worked as a sternman and a residential painter. He also worked seasonally at Kirby-Look Lobster Pound for many years. In his free time, Colin enjoyed collecting model ships and lighthouses. His family fondly remembers the enjoyment he received while watching and feeding wild birds and talking to lonely cats.

Colin is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marilyn Chandler of Jonesport; daughter, Hazel Chandler of Jonesport; brother, Norman Chandler of Beals Island; nephews, Leroy Chandler and Noreen, and Scott Chandler and Irma, all of Beals Island; niece, Betty Dow and Michael of Milbridge; great-nephews, Christopher Dow of Milbridge and Jeremy and Kyle Chandler of Beals Island; and special friends, Dickie and Wendy Beal of Jonesport, Merle and Regina Beal of Beals Island, Sylvia Alley of Jonesport, Phillip Kilton III of Beals Island and Eve Alley of Addison. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Betty Jane Chandler; grandmother, Janie Norton; and sister-in-law, Marie Chandler.

A graveside ceremony will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Jonesport. (Bangor Daily news posted 9/2/2011)
