William D. Bayes, age 71, of Gloversville, died Sunday at his daughters home after a long illness.
Born on November 19, 1930 in Amsterdam, he was the son of William and Thresa Swart Bayes.
He was a graduate of Fultonville High School and later attended Amsterdam Business School. He was a life long area resident.
Mr. Bayes served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was employed by the Lane Construction Company of Fultonville and later was a self-employed contractor and master plumber for over 40 years before retiring in 1989. He was of the Methodist faith.
Mr. Bayes is survived by his wife, the former Carolyn Kenyon of Gloversville, whom he married on August 4, 1964
Interment will take place at the Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
