Enlisted and mustered 13 Jun 1861 in as a Private in Co F, 70th NY Vol

Wounded in the Shoulder on 05 May 1862 at the Battle of Williamsburgh, VA and taken prisoner at the time. Sent to Richmond Prison. Released from prisoner of war camp and discharged from the service by reason of Surgeons Certificate of disability of his wounds.

Re-Enlisted on 29 Jul 1863 in Co A, 13th NY Heavy Artillery.

Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 05 May 1864.

Honorably Discharged and mustered out with his Company at Harts Island, NY by G.O. War Department on 05 Sep 1865.
