Clara Elizabeth Honaker was born on Sept. 29, 1913 in Honaker, Russell Co., Virginia. She was the daughter of Walter Harrison Honaker (1888-1972) and Mary Sue "Susie" Miller (1893-1970), the fourth of their twelve known children. Both of her parents are buried in the Parksville Cemetery in Parksville, Boyle Co., Kentucky.

Clara's father, Walter, was also born in Honaker, VA, the son of Taze B. Honaker (1863-1944) and Margaret "Maggie" Miller (1865-1949), both lifelong residents of Russell Co., VA. They are buried in the Howard Cemetery in Honaker, Russell Co., VA.

Clara's mother, Susie, was born in Lebanon, Russell Co., VA. She was the daughter of Henry Miller (1841-1916) and Mahala Jane Griffith (1860-1934), both lifelong residents of Russell Co., VA. Both are buried in the Henry Miller Cemetery in Russell County.

On June 20, 1928, Clara married Luther Ray King (1907-2000) in Parksville, Boyle Co., Kentucky. The marriage ceremony took place at Clara's home on Chestnut Grove Road near Parksville. Luther was 20, Clara was just 14.

Luther was the son of Thomas Letcher "Tom" King (1881-1973) and Minna Susan "Minnie" Gooch (1883-1971), born near the present day community of Kingtown, McCreary Co. (then Whitley Co.). Luther's parents moved to Parksville, Boyle Co., KY about 1916 when he was about 9 years old. "Ma" and Pa" King eventually settled on Tennessee Ridge in Boyle County and lived there for over 50 years.

Luther's paternal grandparents were Jackson "Jack" King (1842-1919) and Mary Ann "Polly" Stephens (1845-1910), both buried in the Stephens Family Cemetery in Isham, Scott Co., TN. His paternal great-grandparents were Enos King (abt 1816-bet 1892/1900)) and Nancy Ann Angel (abt 1820-bet 1892/1900). His paternal GG-grandparents were Thomas Murray "Tom" King (1790-1880) and Mary Rebecca "Polly" Cox (1800-1881). His paternal GGG-grandparnts were Kirby King (abt 1752-1795/76) and Uroth Murray (abt 1952-abt 1806).

Luther's mother, Minnie, was the daughter of James Ellison Gooch (1855-1914) and Mary Ann "Polly" Williams (1854-1926). They later divorced, probably between 1870-1895. James is buried in the Lakeland Cemetery in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY. Polly is buried in the Kingtown Cemetery in Kingtown, McCreary Co., KY. James' parents were Dabney Gooch (1827-bet 1800/1900) and Nancy Colyer (1830-bet 1880/1900). Luther's maternal grandmother (Polly), buried in the Kingtown Cemetery, was the daughter of William Hardin Singleton Williams (1836-1912) and Margaret Hail (1836-1897). Margaret is also buried in the Kingtown Cemetery.

About 1942, Luther and Clara, along with Luther's brother Oscar Elvy King (1910-2003), cousin Norman Ernest "Steve" Stephens (1916-1981) who was married to Luther's sister, Elsie King (1917-2001), and cousin, Edward Jackson "Ed" Stephens (1910-1996), all moved their families to Chester, Delaware Co., Pennsylvania. There they served (1942-45) their country during WWII as welders building ships for the US Navy. After the war all but Ed Stephens and his family remained in Pennsylvania.

Clara's husband, a devote Christian, died on Mar. 13, 2000 in Chester, Delaware Co., PA at the age of 92. He is buried in the Lawn Croft Cemetery in Linwood, PA. He and Clara had been married almost 72 years and had five known children.

Clara, also a strong Christian, died on Aug. 24, 2011 at the Fair Acres Geriatric Center (nursing home) in Lima, Middleton Township, Delaware Co., PA. She was 87. Clara is buried next to her husband, Luther, in the Lawn Croft Cemetery.
