214. Walter NMN[5] Honaker (Taze[4], Martin[3], Isaac[2], Martin[1], Hans Jacob Honaker, 1749 Swiss immigrant to Philadelphia). Born 27 Apr 1888 in Russell Co., Va. Died 11 Dec 1972 in Petersburg, Va. Parksville [Ky.] Cem., Boyle County. The 1910 census found the family in Russell Co., Va.
An article in an unknown 1986 or 1987 Russell County newspaper, “School House Reunion,” showed five pictures of Chestnut Ridge School and its students, with the following text: “If you attended Chestnut Ridge school between 1919 and 1953 we need your address. We’re planning a School House Reunion to be held at the old school house sometime in August 1987. …..The following people attended school at Chestnut Ridge: ….. Bascom Honaker (deceased), Cynthia Honaker, Hassel Honaker, Hazel Honaker, Nathan Honaker (deceased), Ruth Honaker, Thelma Honaker …..” The Old Log School in Chestnut Ridge was built in 1879 and was replaced by a new Chestnut Ridge school in 1919, still standing in 1996. Of the Honaker students above, Bascom, Cynthia, Hassel, Hazel, Nathan and Thelma were Walter’s children.
He married Susie Ann Miller, daughter of Henry Miller and Mahala Jane Griffith, 29 Jan 1908 in Russell County, Thomas Stinson, officiating. The marriage was witnessed by Visa Honaker and James Ball. Born 18 Jan 1893. Died 3 Oct 1970. Parksville Cem. Children:
