Wenzel Amos Bloom was born in Chisago City on July 25, 1899, the son of Alfred and Minnie Elizabeth Bloom. He was the grandson of Gustavo and Caroline Bloom and a great-grandson of Zander's Peter and Eling Glader.

He was baptized by the late Reverend Johannes Lundquist August 13, 1899 at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed May 23, 1915 by the Rev CE Slatt. He attended the local school and junior high school graduating from Minneapolis Central High School in 1917 and Gustavus Adolphus School of Commerce in 1918. He enlisted and served in the SATC Army Corps at Gustavus Adolphus College.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, June 10, 1923.

He taught school at Rochester Minnesota and enrolled at the Augustana Theological Seminary in Rock Island, IL in the fall of 1923. He was ordained into this ministry at First Lutheran Church Des Moines, Iowa on June 10, 1928.

Pastor Bloom served in a continuing ministry in churches in Centerville Iowa Arco Minnesota and Saint James, Minnesota for 37 years, retiring on June 1, 1965. In retirement, he resided in Chisago City, Sun City, AZ, Golden Valley, Point Pleasant Heights and Margaret S Parmly Residence.

He is survived by nephew John Bloom nieces Marilyn Taylor, Eileen Bengtson and Karen Lebow and their respective families. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 15, 2000 from the Zion Lutheran Church Chisago City. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Lindstrom
