Minnie Elizabeth Bloom, 89, wife of the late Alfred Bloom of Chisago City, died at the parsonage of her son at St. James, MN on Sunday, July 2 at 5:15 pn after an illness of several months.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1941 and by three brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by her two daughters, Arlene, St. James, MN, Elvice, Chisago City and two sons Pastors Aner O. Bloom, Oakland CA and Wenzel A. Bloom, St. James, MN.

She is also survived by one brother, Lewis Rosenquist, Sr., Atwater, MN and two sisters, Mrs. John Dinsmore, Willmar, MN and Mrs. John Brudie, San Carlos, CA and by 24 nieces and nephews and 9 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, Chisago City with Pastor Russell E. Knutson officiating, assisted by Dr. H. E. Sandstedt, St. Peter, MN. Vocal solos will be offered by a grandson, O. John Bloom, Fergus Falls, MN, accompanied by Mansfield E. Johnson, the organist.

Casket bearers will be Messrs. Roy Strand, Ralph Bloom, Louis Rosenquist, Frans Rosenquist, Rudolph Dahl, and Reuben Johnson.

Interment will be at the Memorial Cemetery, Chisago City, MN.

The body will lie in state at the Zion Lutheran Church, Chisago City from 11 am- 2 pm on Thursday.

Minnie Elizabeth Rosenquist, the eldest daughter of Nels and Ellen Glader Rosenquist, was born on Sept 5, 1871 at Lake Elizabeth, Atwater, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the christian faith on June 5, 1887 at the Lutheran Church at Atwater by the late Pastor J. A. Frost.

She was united in marriage Sept. 24, 1894 at the Atwater Lutheran Church to Alfred Bloom of Center City, MN. For a year and a half they made their home in this village where they were engaged in the hardware and furniture business with the late Frank Lorenz. This partnership was dissolved when they came to Chisago City to erect the first general mercantile store in Chisago City with a brother, the late J. A. Bloom, under the incorporation of the Bloom Mercantile Co.

The departed was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Chisago City, until her death. She was vitally interested in the work of her church, particularly missions. She was most active in the Women's Missionary and Ladies Aid Societies and a consistent participant at all of the worship gatherings of her congregation.

In her 83rd year, she suffered illness of the infirmity of age, which has required her to spend the past 7 winters with her son and daughter at St. James, MN.
