Bus Driver Dies
Friday, Sept. 18, 1970

Edmund Leo Bromfield, 52 Solomon St., Wilkes-Barre Twp., died last night at the Holy Name Hospital, Teaneck, NJ, where he was a patient for three weeks.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Grogan Bromfield. He was educated in the local schools and for the past 15 years was employed as a driver for the Greyhound Bus Lines.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Navy. He was a member of St. Leo's Church, Ashley.

Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Mary Clarke; children, Edward, Joseph, Judith, Bonnie, Raymond, JoAnna, John and Margaret all at home; brothers Thomas, Wilkes-Barre; Harold, Rochester, NY; sister Mrs. Marcellia Cosgrove, Long Island, NY.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from Lehman Funeral Home, 208 Parrish St, City. There will be no viewing.

He was ranked as U.S. Navy Seaman First Class in
World War II; serving as a radio operator on the Hydrographer AGS-2 during the retaking of the Attu Island in Alaska in 1943. He was a High School Graduate of St. Mary's Immaculate Conception in Wilkes-Barre. And was employed with many odd jobs. One of which had him traveling about the east coast delivering cars with his best friend; Marc Cohen. Another was as a chauffeur for Issac Long; owner of the Wilkes-Barre clothing store. But he spent many of his years employed by Greyhound Bus Lines as a bus driver.

He was second born of six children to first generation US born Thomas Raymond and Mary Adrian (Mae) Grogan Bromfield.

Edmund was a great lover of music and poetry. He enjoyed dancing and relaxing behind a fishing rod or watching a western movie. He was an amateur photographer and he enjoyed making recordings of commercial parodies on 78 records and then in later years on reel to reel.

He was fun loving and often called "hair breath harry" for his exaggerated stories. He was loved by so many. He had a great loved his family and was the apple of his mother's eye.
