Letter to Sara Josephine Andrews from Janie Belle (Mrs F.A. Stack) October 5, 1970:Dear Sara:

....Were Mamma and Cousin Willie (Sara's father) cousins?... Wasn't Cousin Stella descended from Larkin and Nancy Pilkinton? He was born about the time of Revolution and died May 11, 1858, she in 1859. Both are buried at the Wilkes cemetery at Culleoka.

A Larkin Pilkinton lived in Bullitt Co., Ky in 1817 and filed for and received a pension for Rev. service. Some places the name is spelled Pilkington. Later he moved to jefferson County, Kentucky. In 1844 he requested his pension be sent to Madison Co., Ill. where he lived with a son Robert C. Pilkington...With thses two names I feel they have to be closely related, hopefully father and son.

Return letter from Sara Josephine Andrews:

John D. Simpson came to Illinois after he had spent twelve years in lebanon, Tennessee, which is not far from the home of Andrew Jackson. John D. married Mary (Patsie) Pinkleton-Puckett and settled on what is now known as the Charles Beiswenger farm, eight miles south-east of Fairfield, Illinois. His wife, a widow, had formerly married John Westmoreland Puckett AND TO THIS UNION WAS BORN TWO CHILDREN - JEFFERSON PUCKETT AND MARY ANN PUCKETT.

John and Mary Simpson farmed for a living but the home was also used as a depot or midway station for the stage coach line which ran from Flora, Illinois to Carmi, Illinois. (Patsie) boarded the coachmen and travelors while John furnished feed and stable for the horses. John and Mary died at their old home and were buried in the old part of Pleasant Grove Cemetery, six miles south- east of Fairfield, Illinois.
