The Angel of Death has again summonsed from our midst another of our respected citizens, and Friday afternoon called to her Heavenly home, Mrs. Anna Charlette Johnson, 66 years old, from all her earthy cares and duties.
Mrs. Johnson had been in ill health for eight weeks. She was taken to the Red Oak Hospital a week ago last Thursday. She underwent an operation and passed away there Friday.
Anna C. Johnson was born in Sweden, April 26, 1864, and came with her parents to this country and located in the Nyman vicinity in 1882. She was married at Nyman in 1885 to J. Alfred Johnson, who died July 18, 1924. Mrs. Johnson is survived by the following children: Elmer Johnson of Red Oak, Iowa; Mrs. Lillie Lagerquist, Mrs. Alice Swanson, Mrs. Anna Liljedahl, and Miss Mayme Johnson of Essex, Iowa; Clarence Johnson of Shenandoah, Iowa; and Paul Johnson of South Bend, Indiana. One sister and one brother also survive, Mrs. Sophie Pierson of Essex, Iowa and Axel Carlson of Seattle, Washington.
Mrs. Johnson was a devoted mother, neighbor, and friend. A member of the Lutheran Church and a willing worker in church work.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Short services were held at the home at 2 o'clock preceding services at the Lutheran Church at 2:30 in charge of the Rev. M. A. Johnson. Pall bearers were A. D. Collins, Gust Ekeroth, C. H. Liljedahl, Alfred Sar, S. A. Johnson, and Andrew J. Johnson.
Interment was in the Essex Cemetery.
