Mr. Toffey was born May 17, 1924, in Watertown, son of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Roberts) Toffey. He was the last survivor of 11 children. Mr. Toffey was a lifelong resident of Watertown and a graduate of Watertown High School. He was a tool and die maker for more than 50 years and retired from Sherwood Medical. He and his wife were the owners of the former Kesllet Precision Mfg. Co. In retirement, he enjoyed tinkering in his garage and repairing cars. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
He is survived by a son, Lloyd R. Toffey Jr. and his wife, Jeanine, of Watertown; four daughters, Karen Tari of Naugatuck, Lynn Higgins and her husband, Jack, of Cheshire, Doreen Atchison and her husband, Edwin, of Waterbury and Cheryl Bovat and her husband, Daniel, of Watertown; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Toffey Richards.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 26, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St., Watertown. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., is in charge of the arrangements.
