CORNWALL — A Mass for Mrs. Thelma (Toffey) Kearns, 78, of Hautboy Hill Road, was said Tuesday, January 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas of Villanova Church in Goshen. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery in the spring.
Mrs. Kearns, widow of Thomas J.Kearns Sr., who died January 20, died Saturday, January 22, at Sharon Hospital. She was born November 24, 1915, in Danbury, a daughter of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Roberts) Toffey, and lived in Cornwall for 42 years.
She leaves three sons, Thomas J, Kearns Jr. of Cornwall, Richard Kearns of Cornwall Bridge and Walter Kearns of North Goshen; a daughter, Jacklyn Whitford of North Goshen; a brother, Lloyd Toffey of Watertown; a sister, Pauline Duncan of Norfolk, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The Driscoll Mortuary, Torrington, is in charge of arrangements.
