Isaac Nolt Martin was the 5th generation of Martins to live on the Spring Isaac Martin farm. His father, Sadoc, died whe Isaac was 10 months old. His grandfather, Old Spring Ike, undoubtedly served as little Isaac's mentor. Isaac took over the farm from his grandfather rather than from his father. A year and a half later the grandfather, who lived in the other end of the farmhouse, died. Isaac died at home in the farmhouse and at 53 from a heart attack while his wife, Ada, was in the hospital. She was unable to attend his funeral.
