Daughter of Frank Kroeger and Elizabeth Hoffman from Germany, Josephine was born after their immigration to Louisville, KY. She married Frank Nicholas Gast in July 1908. The couple raised 3 daughters and several foster children. In their 65th year of marriage, Josephine passed away having suffered many years disability due to arthritis. Despite this, she was unfailingly kind and pleasant to all. She was a member of St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church, and is buried with her beloved Frank who followed her 6 months to the day of her passing. They rest together in St Michael's Cemetery.
