Phebe Elma Berry, daughter of Charles and Phebe Troxel was born April 13, 1903 at their farm home in Hayes County, Nebr., being one of a family of 13 children, five of whom died in infancy. She departed this life at her home in Wauneta, Nebr., Mar. 27, 1964, at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 14 days.

She attended grade school at Garfield School, three miles from their farm home. Among her teachers were Gertie Brown, Inez Green, Neva Merrill, and Mandy Scriven.

Raised in a Christian home, she was baptized at an early age by L. S. Terry. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ her entire life. This faith sustained her throughout these last months of suffering.

She was united in marriage May 22, 1920 at Imperial, Nebr. to Chester L. Berry of Gallatin, Mo. After making their home for five years in Hayes County, they lived the remainder of their life together in Chase County.

To this union eight children were born: Wayne Ronald, Pauline Ardith, Irvin Leroy, Ila Florence, Bonnie Marie, Beulah June, Ilene Lavon and Connie Kay.

Her father, mother, three brothers, three sisters, one son, Irvin Leroy, one son-in-law, Don Thomas, and two granddaughters, Elizabeth Anne McMinn and Kim Marie Ourada preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Chester Lee; and seven children: son, Wayne Berry, Benkelman, Nebr.; and daughters, Pauline Johnston, Calif.; Ila McMinn, Benkelman, Nebr.; Bonnie Ourada, Satellite Beach, Fla.; Beulah Rydquist, Greeley, Colo.; Ilene Armatage, Wichita Falls, Texas; and Connie, at home in Wauneta. Also one brother, Orley Troxel of Wauneta, Nebr., 16 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
