GREENSBORO — Mr. William "Bill" L. Coltrane, 98, passed away Monday, October 19, 2009, at Wesley Long Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 22 at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel, with the Reverend Ben Carson officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bill was born in Guilford County and was a member of Guilford College United Methodist Church. He was a building contractor for many years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jessie Davis Coltrane; sisters, Lala C. Thacker and Edna C. Wakefield; brothers, Soloman Coltrane, Sr., Vernon E Coltrane, and Lois E. Coltrane.

He is survived by brothers, J. Max Coltrane and Jesse Lee Coltrane and wife Margaret; and two loving nieces of his wife Jessie, Nancy D. Short and JoAn D. Boyette.

The family will receive friends from 1- 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
