Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, at Faith Wesleyan Church with Rev. Tim Satterfield officiating. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Lois (Grandpa) was born June 27, 1923, in Guilford County. He was a faithful member of Faith Wesleyan Church. Lois gave approximately 30 years of service to Thomas & Howard, Inc. and followed with Burlington Industries until retirement. After a three month retirement from Burlington Industries, he re-entered public work at Food Lion on Holden Road, where he spent the next 20 years enjoying the company of the many friends and customers he grew to love. Lois had a strong love of his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also loved his church and church family. He spent most of his life selflessly helping others.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary H. Coltrane; great-granddaughters, Holly Rebecca Tilley and Christen Michelle Clodfelter; parents, Lee B. Coltrane and Pearl Wakefield Coltrane; brothers, Solomon (Solly) Coltrane of Kernersville, Vernon Coltrane of Greensboro; sisters, Edna Coltrane Wakefield of Elkton, Michigan and Lala Coltrane Thacker of Greensboro.
Lois is survived by his son, Lois E. "Eddie" Coltrane, Jr., and wife, Nellie; daughters, Bonnie C. Crutchfield and husband, Richard of Kernersville and Ann Taylor of Randleman; brothers, William L. Coltrane of Greensboro, Jesse L. Coltrane and wife, Margaret of Greensboro and J. Max Coltrane of Kernersville; grandchildren, Mary W. Price and husband, Joel of the home, Jean W. Clodfelter and husband, Wayne of Randleman, Joseph LaRue and wife, Jamie of Shallotte, Phillip M. Coltrane of Pleasant Garden, Michael Coltrane and wife, Dawn of Greensboro, and 12 great- grandchildren.
