Ronald Franklin Larsen of Willard, Utah passed away June 3, 2002, from causes incident to age.

He was 85 years old and was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife: Helen Edith Brown, Willard, Utah; and five children: Edith (Dan) Baker, Bountiful, Utah; Arlene(Lynn) Miller, Logan, Utah; Eldon (Susan) Larsen, Charleston, West Virginia; Linda (Ken) Rose, Goffstown, New Hampshire; and Keith (Ann) Larsen, Willard, Utah. He is also survived by a brother, Eugene (LaPreal) Larsen, Provo, Utah; sister, Celia Luce, Provo, Utah; 33 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Rex Larsen and Grant Larsen, and by granddaughter, Tamera Rose.

Ronald was born December 8, 1916 in Provo, Utah, the fourth child of the well-known artist and educator B.F. Larsen. His mother was Geneva Day Larsen, also an artist in her own right.

He was active in scouting as a youth and loved to hike and ski the hills of Utah county. He attended school in Provo, Utah, then attended Brigham Young University before being called to serve an LDS mission to France and Switzerland.

With the outbreak of World War II, he evacuated and served the remainder of his mission in eastern Canada.

Ronald and Helen married January 16, 1942 and he departed almost immediately to serve in the military during the War.
He served in Counter Intelligence for the secret service in
Guadalcanal and New Caledonia.

Following the War, he graduated from BYU with a degree in Math, then did post-graduate work at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Two children were born there.

In 1949, they made their home in Boise, Idaho, where three more children were born. Ten years later they moved to Willard, Utah, where they have lived ever since, except for a period of five years in North Ogden.

During this time, Ronald worked, first for Thiokol Chemical Corp., then at Hill Air Force Base as a chemist. He remained in the Army Reserves until his retirement.

Ronald has served in many positions in the LDS Church, such as counselor in the Branch Presidency, High Counselor, extraction worker, and faithful home teacher.

Interment will be in the Willard City Cemetery.
