In 1860 she, her parents, brother Leonard, and sister Sarah lived in East Wheatfield Township, Indiana County, PA. Her father owned personal property worth $80 and worked as a basket maker. Frederick worked as a furnace laborer.

In 1870 she and her husband and their son lived on a farm in the same township. He owned real property worth $3000 and personal property valued at $750.

In 1880 she, Francis, their seven children, and 66-year-old John McCachren lived on probably the same farm.
