Funeral Service Tuesday for John L. Bryan

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 15 from the Gibsland Pentecostal Church of Gibsland for John L. Bryan, who died Sunday. Officiating at the funeral was the Rev. T.W. Barnes assisted by the Rev. J.P. Pruitt and the Rev. M.C. Green. Burial was at Mount Lebanon Cemetery under the direction of Conger Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Charlie Perry, Gill Youngblood, Doug Hall, Douglas Stewart, Jerry Shaffer, and Herman Culpepper.

Bryan was born March 1, 1903 at Bryceland, the son of Charles Monroe Bryan and Alice Sledge Bryan. Survivors include his widow, Lessie Fay Nixon Bryan; two sons, Billy W. Bryan of Shreveport and Laurie E. Bryan of Jena; three daughters, Mrs. J.W. Olds of Arcadia, Mrs. L.B. Slaughter of Harrisonburg, and Mrs. R.T. Bruce of Leesville; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and one sister, Mrs. John Cummings of Bryceland.
