Find a Grave ID

"Do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and your children's children." - Deuteronomy 4:9
I began the search to documents my family in 1997 with the help of my dearly loved sister-in-law, Lana Williams Hinton, Memorial # 56228722. She and I visited family, gathered family photos and visited cemeteries with the older family members all of whom have now passed on.
Although I used find a grave as a tool occasionally I did not add to the site until about 2009 after I started finding my photos added to another site had been added to find a grave without my permission. Once I began adding my own photos to the site, I was hooked. Walking cemeteries, communing with the dead, is great exercise, but hard work. Cemeteries that then took a full day to photo now take three days.
Beginning as most do looking for family members somewhere along the way, I began to think of you the family of the deceased. Having moved miles from home many need the help of caring contributors to this site. Therefore, I started returning to these cemeteries and taking photos of entire cemeteries, documenting not only the graves with stones but also the unknown and forgotten.
I believe this to be a calling from God to document who begat whom.
Sometimes I return to cemeteries to retake the photos. So many of the stones have been neglected and the changes to the stones can be seen in the photos. Some will soon be lost to us. Some already are.
The goal is to care for the memorials in my care but I am more than willing to turn them over to you if you are related. I have no need to hold on to your loved ones as some do.
I would like to thank all of you who go out of your way to take photos and submit edits. This is a team effort. After all, in some way we are all related.
Please feel free to copy the photos, but please do not forget to give credit to a footstep in time. Part of correctly documenting is to know where the original source came from. So much of this has been lost by innocent coping of others work.
Always remember we are not alike. We do not think or act alike. I saw on someone’s bio, “some are dot people some are not.” If I add a dot, you do not have to and vice versa. So please be graceful and respect each other and our wide differences. When the differences get to you remember this prayer. I need it somedays as well.
Serenity Prayer
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Happy Hunting!

I do not add census records. There is a forum for these records, this is not it. I will add the information from the records in the proper fields.
