Ruth Naomi Winterton Huff, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on August 16, 2011, in Oakley, Utah, at the age of ninety-four.

She was born September 30, 1916 in Charleston, Wasatch County, Utah to Hyrum Shurtliff and Sarah (VanWagoner) Winterton.

She married Vern Huff on May 13, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married for seventy-two years. Together they raised three children: Bonita Ruth, James A., and DeLora. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2007.

As an active member of the LDS Church, she served in many organizations including Relief Society, Primary, and the Young Women's.

She especially enjoyed the homemaking skills and crafts. She enjoyed making quilts, scrapbooking, embroidery, cooking, and gardening. She loved serving others and was generous with her time and talents. Ruth loved being with her family.

Survived by one daughter, Bonita Ruth (Theil) Atkinson, Woodland; son-in-law, Gerald E. Young, Oakley; nine grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eva Kohkonen, Logan; sister-in-law, Norma Jo Bunnell, Sandy. Preceded in death by husband; son, James A.; daughter, DeLora Young; five brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 in the Woodland Ward Chapel. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00-11:45 a.m.
Interment will follow in the Charleston Cemetery under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home, Kamas, Utah.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Elk Meadows Assisted Living and Alpine Hospice. A special thanks to Vicki, and Cheryl for their compassion and service.
