Ole Ueland was born July 27, 1902, in Newfolden, MN to Omon "Edmund" and Martha Nelson Ueland. He attended school in the Newfolden area and grew to adulthood there. August 29, 1927 he married Florence Ranum at Thief River Falls, Minnesota.
The couple lived in the Viking and Newfolden areas where they farmed. They moved to Thief River Falls in 1947. In the late 1950's he and his wife lived for a time in Janesville, Wisconsin. His wife Florence Ranum Ueland died May 7, 1962. He married Mary Barstad December 23, 1963. She died August 5, 1983. He had worked at Hartz Wholesale and had been a general laborer in the area.
Ole Ueland is survived by two sons, Russell, South Beloit, IL, and Donald, Beloit, WI, two daughters, Frances Gustafson, Thief River Falls, and Leona Ueland Ranum, Janesville, WI, 22 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, four sisters, Mabel French, Los Angeles, TX; Carrie Cullander, Saskatchewan, Canada, Ruth Eckman, Newfolden, and Lorrain Tilley, Winlock, WA, and one brother, Norman of Newfolden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one brother, Edmond, one grandson, Timothy Ranum, and three sisters, Marie, Annie, and Mayme.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 31, at 10:00 AM at Green Funeral Home chapel in Thief River Falls. He died January 27, 1987 the at Oakland Park Nursing Home.
Rev. Leslie Galland officiated at the service, with Mrs. Alvin Dahlstrom serving as organist. Grand-daughters Jodi Gustafson and Cathy Zimpel sang.
Pallbearers were Arnold Bengtson, James Taggart, Ron Ueland, Newell Ueland, John Roseland, and Alvin Olson. Internment will be in Rindahl Cemetery with the Green Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
