As an Avon Representative, Lea was a member of the President's Club and a sales leader for many consecutive years. She was dedicated to her products and devoted to her customers, many of whom became close friends. She enjoyed reading gothic romances, listening to country music, and was a long time fan of "As the World Turns." A wonderful baker, she often treated friends and family to her homemade breads and cakes. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church since 1957. Lea took great pride in her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her eldest son Gary (Patsy) Ranum of Boscobel and their sons Yuri and Jesse; her daughter Debra (Thomas) Maher of Nazareth, Pennsylvania and their sons Thomas III (partner Urso Chappell), James, and Daniel; her daughter Paula (John) Schutt of Janesville, John's son Daniel, and Paula's children Joshua (Becky Hanson) Oas and their daughter Samara, Tyshanna (Ross) Bradley, and Airman First Class Timothy McCoy; her son Mark Trevor (partner Craig Bodoh) Ranum of Wauwatosa; her son Christopher (Cindy) Ranum of Janesville, and Chris's children Jonathan (Ashley Dummer) Ranum, and Nicole (Steven Salinas) and their daughter Leanna, and Cindy's daughters Jodi (Paul Quade) Porter and sons Treven and Tanner, and Carrie (David) Jensen and children Autumn, Dayton, and Johnathon; and her son Curtis (Kris Bendorf) Ranum of Afton and Curt's sons Michael and Marcus. Leona is also survived by her brother Russell Ueland and her sister Frances (Orville) Skadsem, both of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, by her sister-in-law Jacqueline Ueland of Beloit, and by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Her former husband of 25 years, Paul Ranum also survives her. In addition to her parents, Lea is predeceased by her son Timothy Paul Ranum who died in 1960 at the age of four; by her brother Donald Ueland of Beloit; by her niece Roberta "Bobbi" Ueland Brown of Minnesota; and by her first husband Donovan LaCoursiere of Kansas.
Visitation will be at Schneider Funeral Home, Janesville on Monday, July 9 from 5 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 2116 Mineral Point Ave, Janesville, on Tuesday, July 10th at 12:30 p.m. with visitation at the church one hour prior to services. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth's Nursing Home, 520 St. Lawrence Ave, Janesville, or Hospice Care, Inc. 3001 West Memorial Drive, Janesville.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of St. Elizabeth's, Hospice Care, Inc., and Dr. Frank Brodkey who cared for Lea with great love and respect throughout her illness.
Postscript -- Leona is actually buried in Oakland Cemetery in Janesville, Wisconsin where she had lived since 1957. This family Memorial was erected in Rindal Cemetery, Marshall County, Minnesota for her parents and siblings. Her brother Donald Ueland is, likewise, buried in Beloit, Wisconsin.
