NORMAN UELAND

Norman Adndt Ueland was born on March 25, 1909 in New Solum Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of the late Edmund and Martha (Nelson) Ueland. He was raised in New Solum Township, attended Columbus School and was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem New Solum Lutheran Church.

He worked for area farmers until moving to LeRoy, Saskatchewan, Canada, from 1925 to 1930. He then moved to Oklahoma, where he owned and operated a filling station from 1931 to 1935. Upon returning to Minnesota in 1935, he worked road construction and for the Soo Line Rail Road.

Norman was united in marriage to Bernice Bengtson on September 7, 1939 at Warren, MN. The couple farmed in New Maine Township, Marshall County.

Norman served on the New Maine Township board, helped organize the New Main 4H, and was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden.

Norman is survived by his wife Bernice at Newfolden, MN; four children: Newell Ueland and his wife Margaret of Grand Forks, ND, Ronald Ueland and his wife Linda of Newfolden, MN, Marlene Taggert and her husband Jim of Newfolden, and Bruce Ueland and his wife Pat of Cloquet, MN; fifteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters - Carrie Cullender of Watson, Saskatchewan, Canada, Ruth Ekman of Thief River Falls, MN, and Lorraine Tilley of Centralia, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Ole and Edmund; five sisters Rachel, Annie, Marie, Mabel, and Mayme; and son-in-law Gary Iverson in 1967.

Norman Ueland died Thursday, February 9, 1995 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN at the age of 85 years, 10 months, and 14 days. May his memory be blessed.
