HOITT, Ruth Bishop, of Montpelier, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Her God has called her home. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 56 years, William Wesley "Bill"; her children, Susan Thweatt, William W. Hoitt Jr. (Robin) and Gregory Allen Hoitt (Melinda). She was adored by her grandchildren, Michael Scott McEwen, Elizabeth Riian McEwen and Sydney Leech Thweatt III, and will be forever missed. She is also survived by her sisters, Annie Bishop and Olene Ragland; and brothers, Roy, Austin, Kenneth Roosevelt Bishop [3 Nov 1939-2 Jul 2011] and Dean Bishop.
Ruth and Bill started a family business, Automatic Controls of Virginia, Inc., 37 years ago and were able to enjoy their lives with their children by their side. She spent her entire life doing for others and leading by the example of her Christian faith. Ruth and Bill were active members for over 20 years of several square dance clubs in the Richmond area and loved their circle of friends. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 27, at her beloved church, Berea Baptist, Rockville, VA, where she was a member for 42 years. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Berea Baptist Church, 15421 Pouncey Tract Rd., Rockville, VA 23146 or Safe Harbor, P.O. Box 17996, Richmond, VA 23226.
