Margaret J. Harper, 91, formerly of Vail and recently a guest at Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone, died Thursday at the Tyrone Hospital Emergency Room.

She was born in Tyrone, daughter of Frank and Minnie (Magill) Morrissey. She married Melvin Clair Harper on March 6, 1939, and he died June 18, 2007.

Surviving are a son, Sheldon L. (Cindy) of Tyrone; seven grandchildren: Timothy, Troy, Darlene Kinard, James L., Elaine R. Peachey, Matthew and Amy Fleck; 14 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Donna Harper of Palm Coast, Fla.; and two sisters: Hannah Isenberg of Tyrone and Lois Blake of Philipsburg.

She was preceded in death by a son, Clair L.; four brothers: John, William, Wilbur and Robert; and three sisters: Mary Maule, Ruth Davidson and Gladys Raling.

Margaret was a homemaker and devoted to her family. She was a longtime member of Bald Eagle Grange and attended adult classes for upholstery.

Friends will be received from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, the Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will be at Bald Eagle Cemetery.
