South Bend Tribune (South Bend, Ind.), Thursday, January 19, 1978:
"Chester L. Witwer, 81, a former South Bend resident, died Wednesday at the Veterans Hospital in Marion where he has been a resident for the last two years. He formerly was the manager of the Burnett Drive Away Co. in South Bend. He was born on Sept. 20, 1896, in Plymouth and lived most of his life in South Bend. On Oct. 27, 1923, in South Bend, he married Jeane Fisher, who survives with a son, William of Garrett; four grandchildren; and a brother, Harold of South Bend.

Services will be at 2 p. m. Friday at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William, with Rev. Haven C. Kelley, pastor of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p. m. today and from 9 a.m. until services Friday. Witwer was an Army veteran of World War I."
