Two persons are dead and another not expected to live the day out as the result of eating toadstools by mistake for mushrooms. They have been ill since Labor Day afternoon.

The dead are Warren Killian, 12 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Killian of No 115 Rumbold avenue and Mrs. Jessie Pomeroy, 35 years old. of No 120 Rumbold avenue. The person not expected to live is William Pomeroy, husband of Mrs. Pomeroy. The Killian boy died at 4 o'clock this morning at his home and Mrs. Pomeroy passed away at 10 o'clock this morning at her home. It was stated early this afternoon that Pomeroy was barely alive as the result of the poisoning and was expected to live but a few hours.

On Monday morning Pomeroy went into the woods near his home where he gathered a supply of what he supposed were mushrooms. They were brought home and prepared for dinner. Mr and Mrs. Pomeroy both ate heartily of the fungi but their son, Donald, nine years old, disliked the taste of the dish and declined to eat but a little of it.

Young Killian came into the Pomeroy house about the time the family was finishing dinner to play with the Pomeroy boy and was invited to partake of the supposed mushrooms. He ate generously of them. A few hours afterward all three were stricken ill and continue to grow worse rapidly.

None of the fungi was left so the authorities have been unable to conduct an analysis to determine definitely that the dish eaten by the three persons contained toadstools. Attending physicians, however, said there was little doubt that such was the case. Coroner J. E. Helwig will conduct an autopsy.

The funeral of the Killian boy will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the family residence and at 2 o'clock from Frieden's church on Schenk street. Rev. E. A. Schultz officiatlng. Burial will be made in Bear Ridge cemetery.
