Miriam was the eldest daughter of John and Mary Berberick. She had eight siblings. Miriam eloped with Leo Alvarez in a Catholic ceremony in Tuxedo, New York. They have three lovely daughters Patricia, Carol, and Leona and nine grandchildren. The number of great-grandchildren continues to grow. Miriam spent many years working in the microfilm department of Lightolier, a light manufacturer situated within walking distance a few city blocks from the house. She also enjoyed being part of the Women Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. Miriam was devoted to her family. Her sister Grace was her constant companion after Leo's death. Miriam enjoyed crocheting blankets, sweaters, scarfs, hats and mittens for her family. Her favorite treat was coffee cake. Miriam is here with her husband.
