George Byron Shields, 87, of Rt. 3, Greenville died at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday at his home. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Sorrells & Sons Chapel with Rev. W. B. Milner and Rev. James Seigler officiating. Iterment (sic) will be in Tidwell Cemetery.

Mr. Shields was born Aug. 13, 1887 in Hunt County to Jack and Martha Virginia Johnson Shields. He married Edna Furlong on Dec. 1, 1912. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Whiterock (sic) Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Edna of Greenville; four sons, Hubert Shields and Ray (Buddy) Shields, both of Greenville; Wallace Shields of Celeste, Joe Shields of Rockwall; one daughter, Mrs. James F. Beard of Garland; one sister, Mrs. Edna Burgin of Greenville; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
