The funeral was held at Lower Lake, Tuesday, under the auspices of the Native Sons and the interment was at Lower Lake. Nita Lena Rannells grand-daughter of deceased died and was buried at Lower Lake last week. A sister, also, died at Napa recently and was buried at Lower Lake and Mr. Rannells, the son in-law is in a critical condition and not expected to live.
Edwin Burton (sic) Brookins, oldest son of Mrs. R. M. Brookins was born in Indian Valley, Colusa Co, March 16 1871, and died in Morgan Valley, Lake Co., on Oct. 28 (sic), 1918 at the age of 47 years, 7 months and 12 days.
On June 19, 1892 he was united in marriage to Sarch Lucinda Kouns. Nine children were born to this union, of which seven survive him: Nettie Rannells of Lower Lake; Ernest, who is now in France with the American Expeditionary Forces; Lola, Abe, Norval, Ray and Roy.
His death is indeed sad to the bereaved family, for just a week ago his little granddaughter, who died of influenza-pneumonia, was buried and on Saturday last his sister was laid to rest.
To survive him besides his wife and seven children are one grandson, his mother, two sisters, five brothers, a host of other relatives and friends.
