MEMORIAL ONLY-----SAMUEL B. CARMACK BORN 1808 N.C. DIED UNKNOWN--BETWEEN 1870-1880

Samuel B. Carmack was born about 1808 in North Carolina to unknown parents. He
married a Miss Mary "Polly" G. Davis in Edgecombe County, North Carolina May 27,
1840. Polly Davis was the daughter of Jonathan Davis and Sarah Green Davis of Edgecombe County, Tennessee.

Samuel B. Carmack, b NC, is found on the 1840 Edgecombe Co., NC Census in Dist 6,
page 23, on Census film M704 Roll # 360. In his household is listed
one (1) male 20 and under 30 yrs of age,
one (1) male 30 and under 40 yrs of age and
one (1) female 20 and under 30 yrs of age.
Found about 8 lines above his Mother-in-law, Sally Davis, head of her household, who was widowed, Dec 31, 1839.

Mrs. Samuel Carmack inherited a town lot from her father Jonathan Davis, in the village of Stantonburg, North Carolina, now Wilson County, N.C. and this land that was willed to Mary G. Davis Carmack was sold.

Samuel's family migrated from Edgecombe County, North Carolina to Coffee County,
Tennessee with the family of his wife Mary G. "Polly" Davis Carmack. After the death of Polly's father, Sarah Davis sold the plantation and moved to Coffee County, Tennessee with all but two of her sons who remained in Edgecombe County, NC. for the remainder of their lives. Some of Sarah's children settled in Cannon county later. That county surrounds Coffee County. The migration took place for Samuel and Polly after the birth of Pellam Poinset their second child. They were found in Coffee county in 1850 living near Sarah Davis and her family, the mother of Polly. There were no court records found in that county however, by 1860 they had moved on to west Tennessee, Hardeman County. Again there are no court records.

By 1870 it is assumed that Polly and the two daughters have died. They were both too young to have married. The Carmack family has relocated to Gibson County, Tn. where marriage records have been found. Samuel B. and their youngest son, Frank, are living in the household of Pellam Poinsett Carmack's family.

They are all located in the 1880 census in El Paso, Royal Township, White Co., Ar. Frank married and remained in Tn. and died in Florida. DNA tests with a descendant of Furney Kent Carmack and a descendant of Samuel B. Carmack had a perfect match 25 of 25 matches. Furney Kent Carmack was a son of William Carmack and Pency Kent of Craven Co., NC. There was also a DNA test with a descendant of Fredrick Carmack another son of William Carmack and Pency Kent with a 24 of 25 matches.
Since William and Jessie Carmack both married Kent women, the DNA would match both couples. Samuel was born before William was married, so I can only suggest Jessie and Tearcy would be the parents of Samuel B. Carmack.
