Chester Brown
Estherville – Services for Chester Harold Brown, 84, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Chapel, Estherville, with the Rev. John Besore III of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery with military service by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91. He died Friday, April 7, 1989 at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 21, 1905 at rural Gruver, the son of Andrew and Gertrude (McQueen) Brown and attended Gruver School. Aug. 11, 1950 he was united in marriage with Maxine Chapman at Jackson, Minn. He had worked on the Rock Island Railroad, Estherville Creamery, Maple Hill Lumber Yardand was later self-employed as a painter and fence builder. He has been at Rosewood Manor since August, 1987. He was a veteran of World War II, and a member of the V.F.W. and American Legions Posts.
Survivors include his wife Maxine, Estherville; three sisters: Mrs. Marjorie Wratten, Estherville; Mrs. Carol Varva, Chicago and Mrs. Mildred Whaley, Elmhurst, Ill.; nieces and nephews.
