Jimmy Nervo began his career on the music halls with Teddy Knox. In 1931, they joined forces with two other double acts (Bud Flanagan and Chesney Allen, and Charlie Naughton and Jimmy Gold) to form The Crazy Gang, who enjoyed great popularity on stage and screen until their retirement in the 1960s. Nervo, whose wife Minna was a dancer, usually played a character known as Cecil, and was the only one of the Gang who did not gamble. He came from a circus family, had never gone to school, and never learned to read or write, which makes it odd that his epitaph appears on a stone representation of a book. During script conferences, he used to say that he had left his glasses at home and ask someone else to read it to him. To find his grave, turn right after the Chapel along West Avenue, then veer right towards the Crematorium. Nervo's memorial is one grave from the end and one grave back, at the end of the first block.
