Joseph W. Balczewski, age 84, passed away on Monday, March 1, 1993, in a Madison nursing home. He was born on January 10, 1909 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of John and Anna (Roach) Balczewski. On July 12, 1930, he was united in marriage to Berniece Halverson. He was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Sun Prairie. Survivors include his wife, Berniece; three daughters, Evelyn (Bud) Graff, of DeForest, Pat (Roland) Kading, of Verona and Gladys (Bob) Bookhout of Madison; two sons, Victor Balczewski of Sun Prairie and Joseph (Kathy) Balczewski of Madison; fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann (Stan) Gutowski of Raddison; three brothers, Walter (Thelma) Balczewski of Prentice, John (Eileen) Balczewski of Madison and Charlie (Betty) Balczewski of Exeland. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Anna; a son, Bernard Balczewski; a brother I.J. Balczewski and a sister, Gert Balczewski. Funeral services will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Drive at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 1993. Father Larry Bakke will officiate. Burial will be at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 1993 at the Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, where a scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
