Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Robert Earl Buhler, 73, passed away unexpectedly at home May 26, 1998. He was born November 19, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Orson Earl and Florence Emma McAllister Buhler. He married Phyllis Liddle, June 6,1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He served the Lord in many capacities, including as Bishop of Liberty Ward, as a member of the Liberty stake presidency, on the stake high council, and as High Priest Group Leader. He was also a Chaplain for the Salt Lake City Police Dept. and served a stake mission. Bob graduated from West High School in 1941. He served his country in the Merchant Marine during World War II and in the Army during the Korean War. He served a term in the Utah House of Representatives. He served 12 years as a Salt Lake City Police Officer. Subsequently, he worked in sales and for the Newspaper Agency Corporation. He founded Professional Salesmen's Service Company in 1963, Key Recovery Company in 1973, and Exclusive Keys and Locks in 1989. He was a hard worker all his life, even on his last day. Bob was a loving husband and was proud of his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by Phyllis, his wife of 52 years, Salt Lake City; children, Susan (Douglass F.) Taber, Newark, Delaware; Linda (John R.) Sillitoe, Mesa, Arizona; Douglas W. (Jaydene); David L. (Lori); Kathryn (J. Brian) Ballard; Janean (Paul F.) Justham; Stephen J. (Maria); and Annette (Wayne P.) Andrus, all of Salt Lake; 31 grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters, Betty Pender, South Salt Lake; Joan (Urbane) Child, Salt Lake City; Charlette (Leon) Densley, Riverton; and Bunny Parry, Salt Lake City; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Ray J. and Ray's infant twin, and a granddaughter, Abigail Anne Taber. Funeral service will be held Monday, June 1, 1998, at 12 noon in the Liberty Ward, 445 Harvard Avenue. Friends may call Sunday, May 31, 1998, at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, from 6-8:30 p.m., and on Monday at the ward from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Burial will follow in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City.
