Mr. Adolph Aspegren was born May 6, 1848 in Askiryd parish, Gonkopings lan, Sweden and departed to his heavenly home from Lombard, Ill., Oct. (sic, should be Sept) 29, 1928, age 80 years 4 months and 23 days.

Mr. Aspegren came to America in May, 1868 and settled in Henry county, Ill. After living in Illinois for 8 years he came to Clay county, Nebraska and has lived in Saronville ever since.

Mr. Aspegren was united in holy wedlock to Miss Emma Israelson in Henry county, Ill. March 9, 1871. This union was blessed with 15 children of whom 6 of them preceded the father to the home above. Mrs. Aspegren died Aug 1, 1917.

Mr. Aspegren was united in marriage to Mrs. Nannie Mellin in Chicago, Sept. 17, 1919.

Brother Aspegren leaves a loving wife, 4 daughters, Mrs. Fred Johnson of Saronville, Mrs. Gustav Erickson of Jamestown, N.Y., Mrs. Albin Rudeen, of Saronville, Mrs. Erwin Wenell of Ong, five sons, Mr. Elmer Aspegren, Evanston, Ill., Mr. Edwin Aspegren, McCook, Nebr., Mr. Herman Aspegren , Hastings, Thirty grand children, two great grand children, one brother, Mr. Gust Aspegren of Saronville and many other relatives and thousands of friends scattered all over America. Brother Aspegren was glorious converted to God shortly after he came to America and united with the Methodist church. When the Saronville Methodist church was organized fifty-two years ago he became one of the charter members. In all the activities of the church and of the community he took a prominent part. He became a leader among men. At the time of his death he was president of the board of trustees of his church, president of the bank of Saronville and mayor of Saronville.

Mr. Aspegren was a progressive farmer and a successful business man. He had a keen mind, a sound judgment and his memory even the age of eighty was marvelous. The blending of humor and wit in his pure, optimistic and youthful soul attracted the attention in every society he entered. He was a leader not only locally but in the church at large. He was elected many times to the lay electoral Annual Conference. He was trustee for years of the Old Peoples home at Clay Center, Kansas. A trustee of the Swedish Theological school at Evanston, Ill. He was elected alternate delegate to the General conference in 1912. He filled all these places with honor. He made friends where ever he went. He was liberal. He was broadminded; he was accurate, honest and unselfish in all his work.

His body was brought back to Saronville and funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. J. E. Johnston, assisted By Rev. C. O. Freeman and Mr. Robert Anderson and the remains were laid to rest in the Saronville Methodist cemetery.
