Haas, Alice (10 JUL 1917 – 19 JUL 1934)
Alice Margaret Haas, 17 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Haas, passed away at Mr. Washington Sanatorium at Eau Claire at 1:20 o'clock last Thursday afternoon. She had been ailing since last December.
No one can explain why a young girl such as was Alice Haas, should be called from this life at seventeen. She was sorely needed here. She was the light of the eyes of a great company of relatives and friends, and the light has now gone out. To them she was what the sunshine is to the world, and this eclipse to them brings both darkness and chill. An elder sister, Joyce, died five years ago.
Death is a hard master. He would take from us of our brightest and best, but he cannot ever mar memory. It will serve as a balm to our wounded hearts.
Deceased was born on July 10th, 1917 in the town of Thorp, Clark Co., Wis. She graduated from St. Bernard's Parochial School and was a member of the class of '34 of Thorp High School.
Besides her parents are left to mourn, five sisters: Vilus, Ruth, Marian, Ethel and Patricia, and two brothers, Melbourne and Dean, all at home.
Funeral services were held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church Monday morning, Rev. A.M. Muckerheide officiating, interment taking place in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Pall bearers were six cousins: Bernard, Conrad and Melvin Haas, Byron and Harvey Boie and Donald Schultz. Flower girls were Agnella Leiby, Marcella, Dorothy and Virginia Haas.
Those here to attend the funeral from out of town were: Mrs. Mary McDonald of Laurel, Mont., Mrs. Math. Odlang and Miss Muriel Mallinson of Redwood Falls, Minn., Donald Schultz of Two Rivers, Wis., and Conrad Haas of Hatfield, Wis.
