Georgia Alice Hoyt, 97, a resident of Gooding, passed away August 2, 2011 at her home in Gooding.

Georgia was born February 14, 1914, to Effie Elnora and James Alexander Jones, in South Greenfield, MO. She skipped two grades and graduated from Golden City High School in Golden City, MO at the age of 16.

In 1932, Georgia moved with her family from Missouri to Gooding, ID. Here she got her first job at the "dime store." She then met her future husband, Fay Carlos Hoyt. They married April 18, 1936 and had three children.

Georgia worked various jobs but her career job was with the Idaho State School for the Deaf and Blind, for 26 years, first as a house parent, then dining room supervisor. She loved her job and all the children.

She was a very social person and spent many good times at the Gooding Senior Center. She enjoyed playing cards and Mah Jongg, and just being with her friends. She loved crafting, fishing, and camping. She was the most wonderful and loving wife and mother and we will miss her greatly.

She is survived by her sister, Ora Spencer of Highland, CA; her sister-in-law, Helen Jones of Gooding, ID; her children, Carolyn (Lyle) Allen of Pleasanton, CA; Dixie Hazleton of Gooding, ID; and Gary (Cheryl) Hoyt of Gooding, ID. Seven grandchildren, Dena Allen; David (Lisa) Allen; Daniel (Nikki) Allen; Dru (Renee) Hazleton; John (Kim) Hazleton; Robert (April) Hoyt; Russell (Heather) Hoyt. Seven great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Jaquelyn Allen; Zac and Ashlei Hazleton; and Crystal, Alexela, and Jaxon Hoyt; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fay Hoyt; three sisters, Ruth (Harry) Maxwell, Opal (Howard) Lollar, Rena (Albert) Hall; and one brother, Wren Jones.

A special word of thanks and appreciation to the staff of Guardian Home Care and Hospice and the Office on Aging for the loving care provided to our mother.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Georgia's name be made to the American Cancer Society, the Gooding Senior Center, or Guardian Home Care and Hospice.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding.

Arrangements are under the direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
