Anderson's obituary read: "UNION CORNER RESIDENT DIES- A.J. Dunavan, 79, dies after illness caused by heat prostration. Following a month's illness, A.J. Dunavan, 79, resident of the Union Corner neighborhood, died at his home Monday, August 31, 1936.
He underwent an operation at St. Elizabeth Hospital August 4th and after being removed to his home August 18th suffered a heat prostration which was directly responsible for his death. He was the son of the late Anderson and Elizabeth Beauchamp Dunavan of the Lowes Chapel neighborhood. He formerly lived on the Georgetown Road near Hegler Lane where he conducted a large dairy farm. He has lived near Union Corner for the past 17 years. He was married in 1882 to Carrie J. Cravens, who died July 29, 1926.
Surviving are nine children: Fred, Detroit, Michigan; Willis, State Line, Indiana; Ora, Rocky Ford, Colorado; Mrs. Iva Hughes, Olney Springs, Colorado; Arley, Oakwood; Ben, Elva and Lola Esworthy, all of Danville and Albert, who whereabouts is unknown. Twenty-six grandchildren, a brother Ned, route 6, Danville, and a sister, Mrs. Ella Wilcoxen, Louise, Texas, also survive.
Funeral services will be at the home at 3 P.M. Wednesday with the Rev. R.N. Lawlyes officiating. Burial in Niccum Cemetery."
