Mr. Watkins was born in Caruthersville on February 12, 1890, the son of John Wesley and Julia Ellen Watkins, and was reared in this city. On December 12, 1910, at Middleton, Tenn., he was married to Miss Carrie O. Hensley, who preceded him in death on December 20, 1949. He engaged in the lumber and logging business until he retired and was a member of the Woodman of the World.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Glass, of this city; a son, James Watkins of Hayti; a brother, Earl Watkins of St. Louis; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Burgess of Memphis; three half-brothers and a half-sister, Cecil, Wilson and William Watkins and Mrs. Imogene Christian; three grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
