Born Feb. 22, 1912, in Middleton, TN, son of the late James Wesley and Mexi Watkins, he worked for the International Shoe Company in Dexter for 27 years and was a retired farmer. He attended New Hope General Baptist Church near Essex.
On Sept. 2, 1933, he married Dora V. Ellison who preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 1993.
Survivors include: one daughter, Billie Ledbetter; one sister, Imogene Christian; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, William Watkins and Cecil Watkins, also preceded him in death.
Visitation was held at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services were scheduled. The Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiated.
Burial followed in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
