The deceased came to this city with his parents when a young boy in his early teens and lived here until about 25 years ago. Since that time he has lived in Mississippi, in Hayti and on a farm near Poplar Bluff. Having lived here the greater part of his early life and making many occasional visits to his mother and relatives and business trips here since that time he was quite well known. Being a successful farmer, and a busy man in that capacity, he was of a retiring disposition but found time to affiliate with the Masonic lodge and the Modern Woodmen and he has always been considered an upright citizen in every way.
He leaves his widow and the following children by his former marriage: Guy Watkins, Hayti; Louis Watkins, Thayer, Mo.; Earl Watkins and Bob Watkins of Webster Groves, Mo.; Mrs. Brooksie Prewitt, Mrs. Myrtle Burgess, Walnut, Miss.; Fred Watkins and by his surviving widow, Wilson Watkins, Hayti; William, Cecil and Imogene Watkins of near Poplar Bluff. He is also survived by his mother and sister in this city as mentioned, and a brother, L.E Watkins of Walnut Ridge, Ark.
